AimAtFile Fast File Search is an effective way to find documents on a computer bytheir contents. It provides content search functionality based on Microsoft IndexingService included in Windows 2000/XP/2003. It allows searching for files of manytypes: Microsoft Office documents, HTML, PDF, Plain text, Media files, etc.AimAtFile provides a document preview. It lets users see the contents of founddocuments without opening them in their editing programs.
Microsoft Indexing Service scans files in the background as a low-priority processand AimAtFile requests this index to return search results instantly. Unlike themost of third party file search utilities AimAtFile does not scan all files eachtime a user tries to find any file.
AimAtFile Fast File Search can query Indexing Service catalogs on remote computersin Microsoft Network. So it gives an opportunity to search for documents incorporate Local Area or Virtual Private Networks.
The program is easy to use. The interface is very intuitive. Run the program, type aquery in the Query field, click Search and a list of relevant documents will bedisplayed. A query may be simple (just words that target files contain), a Booleanexpression, or a more precise query written in the Indexing Service query language.
In this version new result columns, query fields and document preview options havebeen added. Now the program provides the Group Policy settings that make it moreconvenient for corporate users.
