Marinko Markovic, from Canberra, Australia, set up yourdayoftheyear.com after tryingto think of a way to impress his wife for their upcoming anniversary. Markovic saidthat without much money, it s hard to come up with a different surprise each year,so he jumped into action to create this site. "I wanted to surprise my wife thisyear, but unfortunately I just missed our anniversary. However, We now own August14, that s ours to keep."
Rather than just build a personal webpage or a MySpace site, that only family andfriends would want to see, Markovic thought of creating a website, to enable them toshare it with others who also wanted to own a day that is special to them.
"My budget isn t huge, so buying expensive jewellery, or going on a nice holiday, just aren t easily achievable." Markovic hopes that the success of his website willhelp him financially to be able to do just those things.
After seeing the incredible success of other crazy internet ideas like milliondollarhomepage.c om , Markovic believes that this website will put hishometown of Canberra, Australia, on the internet success story map.
I believe it won t take too long before all the days are gone. There are only 365days in the year, so once they re sold, that s it, there is no more." explainedMarkovic.
Asked what he will do with the money should he sell all 365 days of the year,Markovic said, "After paying off the mortgage and putting some away for retirement,I'd like to take my wife on a nice holiday for our next anniversary. I also have afew other business ideas that I would like to give a go."
