Matthew Peschong is a student of Minnesota State UniversityMankato and he had it his right as a student to turn the problems of the socialnetworking website "Facebook" to the students using the portal. Peschong uses thesite to explain to students the relevancy of the Facebook's changes, helpingstudents understand Facebook's controversial privacy policy, and allow students toshare videos and thoughts on the site.
Facebook is using your information as a means of surveillance and informationcollection to sell to advertisers who, they hope, will be better able to sellpromote you products and services you donÂ't need.
According to FacebookÂ's privacy policy  Facebook also collects information about youfrom other sources, such as newspapers and instant messaging services. Thisinformation is gathered regardless of your use of the Web Site. Although Facebookis assuring us that their  nextÂ' privacy policy will not influded a portion thatallows them to collect your information the reality is that nothing has yet beendone. The reality is that they have collected millions of current and formerFacebook userÂ's information to sell for a lifetime.
There is also some speculation on whether or not Facebook has been  selling yourinformation to the CIA. In addition, the current Facebook privacy policy allowsFacebook the right to sell your information to private companies.  We may share yourinformation with third parties including responsible companies with which we have arelationship. That list of private companies amounts to several hundred. IfFacebook, as the alledge, do not sell our information then why would they have thatclause in their privacy policy in the first place?
Although Facebook has long denied the alligations that they use your information tosell to third parties and that Facebook does not have such ability, there are peopleoutside of Facebook who have been able to do just that with hacking. As part of aFacebook privacy assignment, a couple MIT students were recently able to downloadover 70,000 Facebook profiles into neat customizable charts and graphs to use formarketing research. If you believe youÂ're safe on Facebook, think again. Because ofFacebookÂ's flexible privacy policy the company can do what they wish with yourpersonal information.
