The E-Disk Altima SATA drive is among the new generation of E-Disk solid statedisks supported by the EDSA DMC and LUNETA MFI ASICs. The SATA drive can withstandshock and vibration up to 1,500 G and 16.5 Gs respectively. Mobile computingapplications are set to benefit from these features since the 2.5-inch E-Disk Altima E2A3 is a drop-in replacement for drives used in business laptops or ruggedportable PCs.
Since its inception, SATA has gained the nod of industry experts as the interfaceprovided advancements over its predecessor parallel ATA (PATA), also known asATA/IDE. Among its advantages is a point-to-point interface that connects storagedevices such as hard disks, DVD, and CD-RW drives to the PC motherboard. It also hasa scalable interface solution that supports several speed doublings to address theneeds of future storage devices. With SATA, there is no need for interaction betweendevices as a direct connection is provided to the host via a dedicated link.
"The E-Disk Altima E2A3 SATA drive is another vital contribution of BiTMICRO tothe consumer and enterprise storage users and adds another feather to ourengineering cap," said Rudy Bruce, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Salesand CMO of BiTMICRO Networks, Inc. "BiTMICRO continually innovates the capabilitiesof flash memory long before computer and storage manufacturers have realized therobustness, low power consumption, and speed of solid state storage. The E-Disk Altima series, in particular the E2A3 SATA drive, helps storage users get in syncwith the next generation of multi-core processors and performance-hungry operatingsystems that are coming out of the market," Bruce explains.

About EDSA and LUNETA
The Enhanced Datamover and Storage Accelerator (EDSA ) DMC is a proprietarycontroller that succeeds the highly successful disk controller chipset ofBiTMICRO s electronic disk technology. The EDSA DMC supports large block NANDflash as well as single, dual, quad-die flash devices, allowing BiTMICRO to hikeE-Disk solid state disk capacities to terabytes of pure flash memory.
EDSA goes hand in hand with the Logical Unifier of Extensive Transfer Arrays(LUNETA ) MFI, BiTMICRO s proprietary flash memory management interface controllerthat is designed to orchestrate massively parallel and multi-block I/O operations onlarge arrays of flash devices. LUNETA supports both NAND (SLC or MLC) and AND typesof flash memory and is typically used in designs to complement the EDSA DMC inapplications that require scalability and management of larger amounts of flashdevices.
