"The environment is one thing we should all be considerate of -no matter what business you operate", says Creative Director, Sherry Holub of thesmall California-based design firm. "JV Media Design has always been involved, to alesser degree, with environmental causes and organizations through donations andthrough the use of recycled business supplied whenever possible. I just felt wecould be doing even more."
This spring, Sherry and her team started to actively seek out ways to make JV MediaDesign a greener business. The company now offers its cliental hosting throughwww.ThinkHost.com, which uses renewable energy sources to power its servers andprinting through www.GreenerPrinter.com, which uses soy-based inks and recycledpapers. "We were doing graphic design even before we started creating websites andmultimedia presentations, and recently we wanted to also offer our clients aone-stop-shop to have their printing done. After trying a few printing companiesout, we finally decided on Greener Printer. We want to at least be able to offer aprinting option to our clients who are also concerned about environmental issues."
As for web hosting, JV Media is currently offering any new clients 6 months freehosting with ThinkHost.
"Earlier this spring we submitted an application and were accepted into Co-OpAmerica (www.coopamerica.org), which I feel will help us promote our new offeringsof green printing and hosting and might even increase awareness in our existingclient base". Co-Op America is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated toharnessing the economic power of consumers, investors and businesses to promotesocial justice and environmental sustainability.
