Today the website "GreatVitualWallofChina.com" was launched.China censors its Internet space strictly. Unwanted content and many foreignwebsites are blocked by the government s firewall.
The aim of the launched website is to collect hundreds of urls (submitted byInternet users worldwide) which will be surfed to from whitin China. This surveywill make visible the extent of the censorship and make a stand for a free and openInternet.
Visitors can buy a brick in the virtual wall and upload their url until August 8.August 8 (Start of Olympics) the website founders will physically travel to China tocheck every single url from within the country. This results will be made public andblocked websites will be returned an original piece of the wall s source code.
