The current trend certainly does seem to support that philosophy. There is no doubtthat we are well into the "information age" and the internet makes it easy tosatisfy the most voracious appetite for information. People are hungry forsolutions: they crave information and are willing to pay for it.
Ebooks have in recent years become the perfect way to feed this growing thirst forknowledge. With on demand availability and easy access, they are the perfectinformation vehicle.
Pew Internet and American Life Project, a non-profit research center studying thesocial effects of the internet on Americans, ran a national phone survey in 2003.They discovered that more than fifty three million Americans have contributed to theexplosion of content available online.
Pew Internet concluded that the old maxim is true: Anyone can be a publisher on theWeb, and many users are publishers in one form or another.
So what about the technically challenged? There are many talented people out therewith a lot to offer but up until now the logistics for publishing a professionalebook would discourage all but the most determined and non techno phobic.
Consider this, in order to self publish an ebook, the aspiring digital author has tobecome proficient in several complicated programs, than navigate the maze ofinformation and applications to get the book up on the web, all at considerablecost.
Not many people have the time, patience or funds to go through this very frustratingprocess.
Joe Clayton, CEO of Creative Software has addressed all of these concerns admirablywith his new multimedia digital authoring software, DeadEasy Ebook Maker.
In his words, "DeadEasy opens the door of opportunity to anyone who chooses to grabthis chance to carve out their own publishing business and compete on a levelplaying field with the big guys."
He has eliminated the need for several software applications to produce high qualitytext and audio, in fact DeadEasy surpasses the quality of many ebook creationsoftware applications on the market today.
The biggest advantage however, is that this software has removed the steep learningcurve and frustrating trial and error approach so that anyone can master thisprogram and produce saleable quality digital products. He has even provided videotutorials with the program and one year of free hosting of the finished product inhis "Ebook Mall."
Clearly this product is going to revolutionize the electronic publishing industry. To quote Dick Brass again,"New voices are going to emerge; no books will go out ofprint. This will be the golden age of literature."
