ual Modem PRO 2.0 was designed to create software virtualIP-modems and to map them to virtual serial ports in your OS. Virtual Modem Proemulates standard hardware modems. The main difference is that instead of usingconventional telephone line, it uses Ethernet network, including Internet, VLAN,VPN, etc. Standard modems are connected to the computer via serial ports (COM1/COM2or COM3/COM4). Virtual modem uses virtual serial ports that are complete copies ofreal serial ports. The main advantages of Virtual Modem Pro is speed and reliabilityof the transmitted data (since it uses fast Ethernet network and reliable TCP/IPprotocol) as well as a considerable number (up to 255) of modems that can be createdin any system. Every automation system that collects data from the remote hostsusing modem and telephone line can greatly benefit from implementing Virtual ModemPRO. Among these are manufacturing/warehouse DAQ systems, fiscal/data transfers in abanking system, retail management, etc. Virtual Modem PRO uses virtual serial portstechnology which fully emulates real serial ports and duplicates all theirfunctionality. To create such connection the first virtual modem (local host) shouldbe configured as a TCP/IP server that listens to incoming connections, while theother one (remote host) should be configured as a client to initiate the call. Everyinstance of the virtual modem could be configured to be server or client at any timedepending whether you want to generate outgoing call or accept it (same as standardmodems). In addition, you may specify the TCP port which will be used to establishthe link and IP-address or hostname of the server to connect to. In order toestablish such client-server connection you should install and set up Virtual ModemPRO on both ends. Single license allows you to install and use Virtual Modem PRO ontwo computers in a network.
