VizUp Technology unveils a polygon reducer that balances detail and file size tosimplify very large 3D models that have been converted from CAD/CAM/CAE.
VANCOUVER, Canada. Â March 7, 2007: VizUp Technology today announces theunveiling of VizUp Reducer Enterprise 2.3. VizUp Reducer helps you achieve anoptimal balance between maintaining the necessary detail in a model and a file sizethat is sufficiently compact that users can download it in a reasonable amount oftime.
The application is very simple to use and requires no arcane knowledge to operate.Import your model and simply choose the level of polygon reduction from buttonslocated just above the viewing area of the application. Then choose the Reduceoption from the pull-down menu. Model optimization is performed automatically.
VizUp Reducer Enterprise offers a batch mode reduction operation that allows you toperform model optimization according to a set of parameters for all files in aspecified folder -- a very useful capability when you're working with a large numberof models. "Join similar in material shapes" and "Join adjoining shapes" options isnow available in Batch Mode.
You have an option not to set any parameters manually, in which case VizUp Reducerwill automatically pick the most suitable ones for your particular model. You cansave polygon-reduced models in the VIZUP file format, which retains the relevantreduction information so you can revisit the file later if you need a differentreduction percentage for another purpose; you don't have to convert the model againunless the original has changed. The process of optimization results in the deletionof some vertices, but it does not change the coordinates of the remaining vertices, resulting in minimal distortions during texture mapping.
What's New in Version 2.3 ?Improved support of Poser 7 .obj output models.Wavefront OBJ file format is open and has been adopted by other 3D graphicsapplication vendors and can be imported/exported from e-Frontier's Poser, Autodesk'sMaya, Blender, Misfit Model 3D and 3D Studio Max, Hexagon, Newtek Lightwave, etc.
Pricing and AvailabilityVizUp Reducer Enterprise runs under Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003.
