Euroholidayslets.com, a European vacation rental and holidayhome advertising service, have improved all online forms of their website in aclampdown on SPAM, to protect their Customers.
Due to the irritation of "spammers", a SPAM protection system has been introducedusing the CAPTCHA technique (Completely Automated Public Turing Test to TellComputers and Humans Apart), pioneered by School of Computer Science at CarnegieMellon in Pittsburgh USA, to prevent automated form submissions.
The system has been introduced to overcome the problem of software robots used byspammers, that search sites and automatically complete online forms and certainaccount registrations, to send unwanted emails to the inboxes of registeredCustomers.
The site launched earlier this year, is owned and operated by Holiday LettingServices Ltd. "The protection system will filter SPAM emails being generated bysoftware robots through our website forms, and only allow forms completed by genuinesite users to be submitted to our Customers" explains Director Michael Garmston. "We would like to express our sincere apologies to anybody that has received SPAMemail via our website. The new website improvement is expected to prevent anyfuture nuisance emails from being sent to any of our Customers."
Each time a user completes one of the forms on their website, before the system willallow the user to submit, they will need to type the letters of a distorted imagethat appears on the screen into a separate field. When the form is submitted thecorrect word is compared against the user input. If the comparison is unsuccessfulthe form submission will be terminated.
