1. GP technology. Great Plains client application is written in Great Plains (or now Microsoft) Dexterity, including its core logic and so-called add-ons, or ISV extensions, plus potentially your own unique customizations. Dexterity is perfect for easy distribution and it is distributed and pre-integrated in the form of co-called chunk files, which will be converted into custom dictionary on the first launch of GP user application
2. GP Database platform. At this time (actually exclusive switch to MS SQL was done with version 8.0) it is Microsoft SQL Server only. However you might be on older platforms, such as Pervasive SQL/Btrieve or Ctree. SQL Server is open completely to SQL programmer through Query Analyzer (SQL 2000 or 7) or SQL Management Studio (SQL 2005). Pervasive and Ctree are a bit more difficult to connect the preferred tool in our team is Microsoft Access, where we do linked tables connection and following data repair
3. GP remote support technology. We use Web Sessions (gotomeeting), Remote Desktop Connections and VPN. Web session allows our consultant to be virtually in your office, see your screen and talk to you either by phone or (preferred) via skype (in this case you see our consultant or technician face and mimic, the only what you can not do is to shake hands, but hey you do not pay for commuting anyway!)
