This is one of the most neglected and overlooked aspects ofinternet marketing. Far too many people think that they can simply put up a websitefor a something that they have an interest in and make money from it. The very firstrule of whether an item is going to be successful is the age old  Supply andDemand .
LetÂ's take a look at what we would consider to be a niche and what wouldnÂ't be.
The term  fishing for example is too broad a niche and would not only return toomany competitive websites but it would also be nearly impossible to do it justice asa niche website.
Instead, break it down smaller.  Inshore Saltwater Fishing gets smaller and if youbreak it down to a specific region like  Gulf Coast Saltwater Fishing then you havea sniper targeted niche, although one this small may be harder to monetize. Anyway,you get the gist of what I am trying to show here. You want to have niches ingeneral that have say 1,000 searches a day or more but the ones that are returningresults of over 500,000 per month are going to be hard to dominate. This isnÂ't tosay you canÂ't make money from them, just donÂ't expect to come in and be number onein a few months!
I am currently employing a number of web sites targeting specific niche marketswhere I have advertising placed from Yahoo, Google, or Chitika as well as applicableaffiliate programs and ContextCash.
The very first thing I did before buying these domains was to research them to besure that I was investing my time and money in areas that would be profitable. Ifyou are going to focus on building content sites to run Adsense or Yahoo ads on itis crucial that you do keyword research to determine the traffic and the amount ofmoney people are willing to pay for the advertising or pay per clicks as they areknown.
I have a couple of main tools that I use to do this research and I believe them tobe invaluable if you are going to be successful in this type of marketing on theinternet. In general you want something that has at least 1,000 searches a day,although with super targeted niches and high paying keywords you can sometimes getby with less.
I recommend that you invest the time to research the first niche markets that youwant to target and use the different tools I am introducing to you to help youmonetize your sites to the max! Another thing you can do to get content for yourblog and websites immediately is join some of the article membership sites that Iwill recommend to you later in the book.
