Santa Barbara CA: A California-based Internet marketingagency is offering online merchants a 'new' way to connect with their customers - bytelephone. ValueLeads LLC, a marketing firm that has used traditional onlinemarketing methods such as pay-per-click, opt in email and affiliate marketing forthe past 10 years thinks now is the time to offer Internet consumers a different wayto buy products offered online. They call it pay-per-call and it works like this: Consumers searching the Internet for products see ads in the search engines thatlink to an merchant's 'landing page', a microsite giving details of the advertiser'sproducts and a telephone number to call. Advertisers pay when they receive a phonecall from a prospect, rather than for a visitor to their web site. The companyclaims conversion rates for telephone business is 15 times higher than theconversion rates of web sites, and values are far higher as advertisers have betteropportunities to sell and up-sell their products. Pay-per-call also allowscompanies without a web site to take advantage of the power of Internet advertising.
"People get frustrated because the right web site is hard to find, so they're gladto be able to pick up the phone after seeing a product", says Earl Brown,Valueleads CEO. "And clicks can be expensive - up to $100 each for uniqueproducts. Click fraud is another problem," says Brown, "with insiders claimingthat up to 35% of the clicks advertisers pay for could be fake."
For more than 50 years, businesses have been encouraging consumers to pick up thephone and call - from newspaper and Yellow Page ads to TV and radio commercialsto direct mail, billboards and catalogs.
