Not too many job applicants utilise the Internet for their job searching these days.
With the convenience of online job search, it has been a growing trend for manyAustralian job applicants nowadays to be more lax and complacent with their jobapplication. They think that signing up at any of the free online job classifiedsand posting resume are all there is to a successful job application.
And they, of course, are right, but only up to a point. Sites likecareerone.com.au, jobsearch.com.au, and OzFreeOnline may be free job classifiedssites which employers turn to for their job vacancies and workforce needs. Butjobseekers shouldn't depend solely on their resume simply posted online and wait forwhoever finds them. They too must be on the lookout for promising companies. Jobseeking is reciprocal after all, and should be more focused and targeted; notjust a net thrown blindly in the water, so to speak. This is what separates theordinary jobseeker from the successful jobseeker.
A simple research on the jobseeker's part is all it takes. Visiting the prospectiveemployer's website, and browsing through the "About Us," "Employment," "Careers,""Our People," and "Our Services" sections will give jobseekers more insight into thecompany, as well as prepare them for the eventual interview. And in the job market,a cardinal rule is to always be prepared. It's all there in the Net, the resourcesone needs for a successful job application; unfortunately not too many jobseekersexplore.
Employers are more impressed to see candidates who are engaged actively in the Net. Good online job search should be followed up with ample research then. It makes forbetter bargaining power during the job offer and salary negotiations. Andinevitably, better chances in landing a promising career.
