HistoryJokechamp.com is a two year domain, which means that you are not getting one ofthose pseudo "established" sites that are not even indexed. This site is indexed ingoogle, yahoo and msn, with most of the traffic coming from link exchanges, googleand MSN.
This site in itself has seen moments of glory, with peaks at 10 000 uniques/month.Unfortunately, traffic is currently in the range of 500-700 uniques/month. However, because the site offers something for free, there is alway a stream of visitors. Thefact though is that this site only needs a bit of TLC to get back on the righttrack. You already have essential ingredients already in place to accomplish justthat :- Traffic- PR- Subscribers (40 subscribers)
That is to say, if you ever wanted to buy a site that is truly established andaffordable, this is it.
DescriptionJokechamp is a community-driven site that grows through the participation of users. It is a post-and-rate type of website, a site where users post and rate jokes andpictures. It is a free service, and this ensures that the site retains itsattractiveness potential. Build on this to add more services, where subscribers areat the core.
There are two different users: members and subscribers. Members post jokes.Subscribers have registered to receive jokes through email. You can send the jokesas often or as rarely as you want. And that is the only maintenance involved : posta joke, send a joke. Everything is managed through a very intuitive control panel, that allows you to send email to your subscribers, set your advertising, post andapprove jokes and pictures.
The site currently has 244 jokes and 233 pictures indexed (in google). Jokes areincluded in the sale to help you build the library.
Monetization PotentialIt is up to you to find ways to monetize this site, but this is what I was planning.
Forum - When I bought the site I was planning to add a forum to increase the volumeand participation, and to try to get all the users together. Jokechamp.com is a sitethat grows through the participation of users, but only you have access to allusers, therefore it is not a community. A forum would bring everybody together andin return increase your traffic, and therefore your revenue. A forum is also a placeto advertise products and services, and an easy way to increase traffic to yourother sites, or to your sponsors' site, in return increasing revenue. Because of theother projects, I never followed through, but I did find an interesting forum hosterthat hosts forums for free. If interested, I will communicate the URL.
Daily/weekly jokes - As the volume of users grows, you gain more subscribers. Peoplesign up to receive jokes through email. In other words, when sending a joke, you arenot spamming them. And if it happens that a sponsors has an offer on the sameday/week that you are sending the email... then there is no reason why you shouldn'tlet your users know... and get a commission for every lead or sale that yougenerate...
Free offers - If you know about freeipods sites, you know what I mean. My plan wasto integrate this function in a section of the site to increase commission fromleads and sales. Traffic would increase through your subscribers, who would bereferring people to the site and filling offers to get the ipod, Wii, ps3 or paypalpayment. New subscribers would bring in more subscribers. More subscribers
