Port Coquitlam, BC November 20, 2007 Today Tri-M Engineeringannounced a new embedded CPU module designed to complement their existing PC/104product line. The VSX104 is fanless design featuring a complement of robustfeatures such as extended temperature operation and soldered DDR2 RAM integrated ina small, low power package. The VSX104 is RoHS compliant and conforms to the PC/104form factor which allows users to easily add a wide-range of low-cost I/O options.
The VSX104 s 300MHz DM&P Vortex86SX System-on-Chip (SoC) is a high performance andfully static 32-bit X86 processor designed to work with embedded operating systemsincluding Windows CE, Linux, DOS, and most popuar 32-bit RTOS. Standard features ofthe VSX104 include 128MB soldered on DDR2 RAM, four COM ports, two USB2.0 ports andone 10/100 Ethernet port. It also includes both a Type I CompactFlash socket aswell as a microSD socket. System expansion is supported by the PC/104 interface. The VSX104 fills a void in the marketplace created after a number of embeddedprocessors were recently discontinued. says Tri-M President and CEO, Doug Stead. The VSX104 allows OEM design engineers the opportunity to continue legacy projectsor pursue new opportunities wherever a compact, rugged processor is required.
The VSX104 is a compact design measuring 3.55 x 3.775 x 0.9 and has an operatingtemperature of -40 to +85 C. Single +5VDC power is supplied through the PC/104 busor 2-position screw terminal and total power consumption is a mere 1.85 Watts. TheVSX104 is scheduled to begin shipping in January 2008.
