Optimal Internet is pleased to announce the opening of their Australian operation in Sydney. Founded in 2006 by Bruce Stander, now Group CEO of the company, growth has been rapid yet sustained. Providing a complete service in the niche recruitment industry, the expansion of the company, on a global scale, is a result of maintaining high standards, keeping up with the ongoing advances in technology and delivering a first class service to their clients. With many years experience in job board marketing, the success of the company is supported by continual healthy results.

Brian Smith has been appointed CEO (Australia) and has a wealth of experience in several segments of the market. He was born in Scotland and studied Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications. He started his career with British Telecom and relocated to Australia in 1987.

Brian is the owner of a successful international Executive Recruitment business, which he launched in 1997. In 1999, he founded Interim Management Solutions, providing contract based Executive staff at a senior level. This facility was used by companies for short to medium term assignments.

Extensive local and international exposure has enabled Brian to successfully conduct business in Australia, New Zealand, The Philippines, Asia, Europe and South America.
With over 25 years experience in Sales, Marketing, Business Acquisitions and Management,

Brian's leadership qualities, curiosity, creativity, cultural awareness and analytical talent, substantiates his dedication to achieving success for Optimal Internet in this region.

Gareth Thomas, COO of Optimal Internet Australia, also has over 25 years of experience in IT Business Operations, Sales and Marketing and Product Development. He began his career as an electronics engineer with Rank Xerox in the UK.

He recently co-founded Euroconnxion, a specialist technology company providing Software-as-a-Service solutions and floated the company on the UK Plus Market. He was, prior to this,

Vice President Business Development for Trade Wind Communications, based in Sydney, which also specialised in outsourced IT solutions.

Gareth's extensive portfolio includes business experience in Asia, gained from his roles as Regional Channels Director Asia for Auspex Systems, a company that delivers network storage servers and software, Managing Director and Vice President of Sales for Avnet Electronics Marketing, a global electronics components distributor, with responsibility for the Australian and New Zealand operations. He was also Australia and New Zealand Managing Director for General DataComm, a US telecommunications equipment provider, where he had the additional responsibility for channels development and revenue growth in North Asia, working from a base in Hong Kong.

In both Australia and New Zealand, Gareth has held executive positions in sales and

marketing at AMP Inc (now Tyco), at Intel Corp. throughout Europe, and Philips in the UK.

As a brand, our Australian operation is the first in our global expansion plan and I am really pleased with the talent of management we have running our operation in this region. Brian and Gareth bring with them a wealth of industry and personal management experience, and combined with our recruitment specific software and service offerings, I believe this will be a winning formula. As a company we have responded to the global demand for our services and feel it appropriate to provide localised offices to ensure personal presence and service levels are maintained, commented Bruce Stander, Group CEO of Optimal Internet.
