THREE COMMON PODCASTING MISTAKES MADE BY SMALL BUSINESSES
The Salem, Oregon Podcast Coach cites three common mistakes made by newsmall-to-medium business podcasters  and what they can do about it.
1. MISTAKE: Planning a podcast without looking at the Big Picture. REMEDY: Determine where your podcast fits into your overall marketing plan. Manycompanies look at podcasting as a useful tactical marketing tool  but they donÂ'task the big question:  WhatÂ's our objective with this tool?Â'
2. MISTAKE: Assuming that your podcast voice talent will already be on staff.REMEDY: While itÂ's true that you may have a  naturalÂ' in-house, even if they soundgreat, do they fit your overall company brand? Do they have the time in theirschedule to create a podcast on a regular basis? If not, youÂ're better offcommitting resources to bring in an outside professional group who understandspodcasting, audio production, and how to create a marketing strategy around thepodcast.
3. MISTAKE: Not setting up a regular podcast schedule. ( WeÂ'll do this for awhileand see if it works. Perhaps once a month for a few months  REMEDY: Make the commitment to plan and organize your podcasts for weeks or monthsin advance. If you want your listeners to keep coming back for more, plan onpodcasting on a regular schedule.
GONZO WILL BE SKIING OR YOUR PODCAST COACHING SESSION IS FREE
To reach Tim  Gonzo Gordon during Christmas week, call his cell phone at503-507-4110, and heÂ'll be glad to discuss any podcast question.  I may not be ableto take notes because thatÂ's difficult while wearing large ski gloves, Gordonadmits  but says with current technology all incoming call telephone numbers aregenerally stored in a cell phone, so if there is any necessary follow up itÂ'll be a piece of cake  just like those black diamond runs.Â
In fact, says Gordon,  if a caller gets a hold of me the week after Christmas andIÂ'm NOT on the slope IÂ'll offer a free 30 minute Podcast Coaching session  as wellas a free voice over introduction to their podcast!Â
