Included in the inventory are a number of lots with the HN designation of artistHarry Nixon who was in charge of decorating the figures beginning in 1913. Among the HN s are Christmas Day 2006 HN4899, Serenity. Images of Nature HN 3543, signedby Michael Doulton, The Gift of Life mare and foal, HN3254, from the ReflectionsSeries is Promenade HN3072 and St. George Style I, HN2067.
Also included will be the bust of two wolves modeled by Alan Maslankowski, head ofthe Doulton Modeling Department. It is called Wolves Art is Life AIL#3, and isnumber 17 of a limited edition of 1500 issued in 2001. Other lots include a RonaldReagan character jug commissioned by the Republican National Committee as a fundraiser for the Brady Trust issued in 1984 as an edition limited to 2000, D6718, acharacter jug of Capt. Hook with the crocodile and clock handle, D6597, Bunnykins Trick or Treat DB152, one of 1500 and several lots from the Beatrix Potter PeterRabbit series including Two Gentlemen Rabbits P4210 produced only in 2002 and SirIsaac Newton P2425.
Royal Doulton began in 1815 as Jones, Watts, and Doulton in London. By 1853 thecompany was known simply as Doulton. After purchasing Pinder, Bourne & Co. ofBurslem, England in 1882 it began the production of the fine porcelain for which itis so well known today. In 1901 King Edward VII awarded the firm a Royal Warrantwhich allowed it to adopt new markings and call itself Royal Doulton. After thatthe company began production of its famous decorative line of Series Ware such asthe Gibson Girl plates in 1901, Dickens ware pottery and figurines in 1911 andthe Robin Hood series in 1914 among many others.
