Paris, France (International SIP Conference)  Eyeball, the VoIP Call CompletionÂcompany, today announced complete coverage of CableLabs PacketCable 2.0 firewalland NAT traversal specifications. EyeballÂ's AnyFirewall Engine is the industryÂ'sfirst ICE SDK (software development kit) to enable cable industry vendors to rapidlyintegrate firewall and NAT traversal into PacketCable applications, services anddevices.
CableLabs, the technology consortium of cable system operators, has incorporated ICEsupport into the PacketCable 2.0 specification. Interactive ConnectivityEstablishment (ICE) is a set of techniques developed by the IETF to enable VoIPapplications and devices to complete calls through firewalls and NATs. ICE has nowbeen adopted as the single solution for VoIP firewall and NAT traversal forwireline, wireless, and cable networks.
ICE is a powerful and complex methodology, stated Dr. Shahadat Khan, Eyeball CTOand keynote speaker at the International SIP Conference, in Paris France.  Eyeballhas been working on ICE firewall and NAT traversal techniques since 2001. Today,EyeballÂ's ICE SDK provides a compelling value proposition to the cable industry bysignificantly reducing the cost, risk, and time-to-market of ICE firewall and NATtraversal.Â
ICE is quickly becoming the accepted standard for VoIP call completion. Leadingvendors including Microsoft, Cisco, Nortel, Lucent Alcatel, Huawei, Avaya, Juniper,Tanberg, Nokia and Sony Ericsson have endorsed ICE, are engaged in ICE developmentor have licensed EyeballÂ's AnyFirewall Engine.
