Total Recorder is a multi-purpose audio recording software with wide editing and sound processing capabilities. The program lets you record anything including capturing streaming audio (from Real Player or Windows Media Player, mic input, line-in input or other sound card source), Internet telephone calls or any other sound passed through PC. The resulting sound files can be stored on your hard drive in uncompressed wav PCM, WMA, MP3 and other popular audio formats.
The main features of Total Recorder include:
1. Record sound reproduced by other programs, such as RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, iTunes, Musicmatch Jukebox, WinAmp, and many others, including Internet telephony programs.
2. Record sound coming through a microphone or played by an external device such as a tape player, LP player, portable music player, etc.
3. Record both parties of Internet-telephony conversations when using programs like Skype, Google Talk, etc.
4. A built-in scheduler lets you schedule future recordings and playbacks while your computer is in standby or hibernate mode and can also connect to your favorite radio station automatically.
5. Convert sound data on the fly during a recording and convert files from one format to another.
6. Edit your recordings without any loss of sound quality (even when editing compressed sound).
7. Export/import Total Recorder's configuration settings or scheduled jobs are useful if you need to reinstall your system, move Total Recorder from one computer to another, or as a backup.
8. "Pre-Record" facility.
9. Perform batch processing (for example, convert a set of files or use an add-on to process multiple files all at once).
10. Total Recorder supports free and trial add-ons that can be used to improve the quality of your cassette or vinyl records and voice dictating tremendously, accomplish automatic gain control, apply an equalizer, send your recordings to iTunes/iPod and others.
