What are pdf files and why to use them? The PDF file format was developed by Adobe to create a portable document format. This format can be used to exchange and distribute documents. The advantage against other formats is that you can be sure that anyone will view the file exactly as you want also on other computer systems. The free Adobe Reader is available for almost all computer sytems. Problems that are causted by fonts that are not installed on the viewing sytem are unknown when using the PDF file format. Create a text in any installed true type font and save the result as dxf file. So you can plot the font to use it for engravings etc. You only enter the text and click on "Save as DXF file...". The text will be saved as polygon line information in the DXF file. In version 2.0 a vector font is build in. So now you can not only render the outline of True Type fonts but also one midline font.
